Iliadis, Cooper And Hill Lead Monarchs Over Northeastern, 69-57

NORFOLK, VA-- Trian Iliadis scored 18 and Chris Cooper added 15 points and ten rebounds to lead the Monarchs to a 69-57 CAA victory over Northeastern Monday night in before a crowd of 7,287 at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. Sophomore Donte Hill added 12 points as well for ODU.

ODU improves to 12-9 overall and 7-2 in the CAA, while Northeastern drops to9-10 overall and 5-4 in the CAA.

ODU led, 49-47 with 6:50 left in the game after Kauri Black's layup, then outscored the Huskies 20-10 the rest of the way. Trian Iliadis hit a free throw, then Marquel De Lancey made a three-pointer for a six point lead, 53-47 with 5:32 left.

After NU's Alwayne Bigby's basket, Chris Cooper hits a free throw then Kent Bazemore scores for a seven point ODU lead. After a Northeastern basket, Iliadis, and Hill score back-to-back buckets for ODU, Cooper hits two free throws, followed by Iliadis for two more free throws and the Monarchs lead was 14, at 64-50 with 57 seconds left.

ODU outrebounded Northeastern, 40-34 as both Cooper and Bazemore hauled down 10 boards. For Cooper, it was his CAA best 11th double-double of the season.

ODU also came up with 10 steals which is the fourth straight game with ten or more. Donte Hill and Trian Iliadis led with three each for the Monarchs.

Junior forward Nick Wright scored eight points and blocked three of ODU's nine shots tonight.

The Monarchs finished the night shooting .426 (20-47) from the floor, while Northeastern was .411 (23-56).

Northeastern was led by Quincy Ford with 18 points, follwed by Jonathan Lee with 13.

ODU travels to UNCW for a Wednesday night game in Wilmington. This will be ODU's third game in a stretch of five in 11 days.
