Women's Basketball Drops Finale at Paradise Jam to Seton Hall, 60-49

ST. THOMAS, VIRGIN ISLANDS - Old Dominion University women's basketball dropped the final game of the Paradise Jam Tournament 60-49 to Seton Hall Saturday afternoon.

Jasmine Crew and Brittany Morris combined for 41 points to lead the Pirates.

The Pirates improve to 5-2 overall with the win while ODU drops to 1-6 on the year.Senior Tia Lewis was named to the all-Tournament team for ODU as she averaged 20.7 points and 10.7 rebounds in the three games of the tournament.

Seton Hall stretched its halftime lead to 16 on a jumper by Breana Jones midway through the second half but ODU battled back to cut the lead to 10 on a three-pointer from Ashley Betz-White.

ODU could get no closer as the Pirates hit five-straight free throws to ice the game.

Old Dominion suffered through an eight minute scoring drought in the first half, as Tiffany Minor snapped the streak with a three-pointer and Shakeva Richards hit a short jumper to cut the Seton Hall lead to 15-12.

The Pirates followed with a 9-0 run to take a 24-12 lead, holding ODU scoreless for another four minutes until Tia Lewis connected on a short jumper to stop the run.

Seton Hall stretched the lead to 13 on a three-pointer by Jasmine Crew but ODU cut the halftime lead to nine at 29-20 on buckets from Mairi Buchan and Jackie Cook.

Tia Lewis led ODU with 11 points and a game-high 16 rebounds, just one shy of her career-high. Becca Allison also had 11 for the Lady Monarchs, shooting 7-of-8 from the charity stripe.

Crew led Seton Hall with 21 points while Morris added 20. No other Pirate had more than four points.

The Lady Monarchs are back on the road Nov. 30 when they travel to George Washington for a 7 p.m. contest.
