STANFORD, Calif. - Old Dominion University women's basketball returns to the road on Thursday to take on No. 5 Stanford at Maples Pavilion at 10 p.m. EST. ODU returns home on Sunday as they take on Richmond at 5 p.m. in the Ted Constant Center.
The game marks the second of six road games in the month of November for the Lady Monarchs.
ODU is off to an 0-2 start, but has played two tough ACC opponents in Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech. The start doesn't get any easier facing the fifth ranked Cardinal.
Senior forward Tia Lewis leads the Lady Monarchs with 13.5 points per game and seven boards a game. Ashley Betz-White averages 12 points a game, as she led ODU against Georgia Tech with a 22 point effort. Shakeva Richards poured in a career-best 16 points at Georgia Tech.
Stanford is 2-0 on the year with wins over Texas and Gonzaga. Nnemkadi Ogwumike leads the Cardinal at 33 points a game with her sister, Chiney, second on the team at 17.5.
Tara VanDerveer is the head coach of the Cardinal in her 26th year. She has an overall record of 826-198.
Richmond is 2-0 on the season and hosts Boston University on Friday before coming to Norfolk on Sunday. UR has wins over Navy and William and Mary.
Senior Abby Oliver leads the team at 14.5 points a game and was selected to the Atlantic-10 preseason All-Conference team. Rachael Bilney is second on the team at 11.5 points a game while Genevieve Okoro averages 11 points a game.
