NORFOLK, VA-- Sophomore forward Kati Nearhouse (Nanticoke, PA) scored with less than eight minutes remaining to give Old Dominion (22-2) a 2-1 victory over second round NCAA victory over Duke (14-8)and advance to next weeks NCAA semi-finals at Trager Stadium in Louisville, KY., Nov. 18. with the Championship game on the 20th.
ODU will meet Maryland on Nov. 18 at 4:30 p.m., while fourth seed UCONN will meet top seed North Carolina at 2 p.m.
With a crowd of 463 looking on, the two teams battled to a 0-0 halftime score with just one shot on goal for both and just one penalty corner for each.
In the second half, ODU got on the board first six minutes in as senior RebeccaCondie (Andover, UK) scored on a rebound off a penalty corner shot with the assistto senior Kathryn Kirk (Lititz, PA.).
Duke came back with the equalizer by Mary Nielsen with a tip in in front of the goal off a penalty corner. The assist went to Rhian Jones.
The game winner came at the 62:40 mark as Nearhouse tipped in freshman KelseySmither's (Suffolk, VA.) pass into the left side of the cage.

ODU outshot Duke, 9-4 as the Blue Devils goalkeeper Samantha Nelson had four saves,and ODU's Devon Seifert(Marmora, NJ.) came up with two.
The will be the Lady Monarchs 17th trip to the Final Four, the last being in 2005.ODU's nine NCAA titles is more than anyother school. The Lady Monarchs have had three second place finishes and four thirds. ODU's last national championship camein 2000 which was played at ODU's Foreman Field.
