BOSTON, MA-- Senior midfielder Josh Semerene scored two second half goals to lead the Huskies of Northeastern (10-5-2/6-3-1) to a 2-0 Colonial Athletic Association victory over the 7/8 ranked Monarchs of Old Dominion (11-4/7-3) on a snowy Saturdayevening. NU remains unbeaten at home with a 7-0 record.
The two teams played to a 0-0 tie going into halftime. Semerene got assists from DonAnding and Dante Marini to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead. Four minutes later Semerene scored his fifth goal of the season after Mike Kennedy fed him from the right wing for a header.
Northeastern outshot the Monarchs 12-11 on the night. Huskie Oliver Blum had fivesaves on the night to pick up his fifth shutout of the season. ODU's Victor Francoz had three saves. The Monarchs played without the nation's leading scorer, Yannick Smith due to an injury.
The Monarchs return home for the regular season finale on Friday night at 7 p.m.against Drexel.
