NORFOLK, VA--The second annual ODU/Outerbanks Collegiate Golf Tournament begins, Sunday, Oct. 23rd with an 18-team field at the par 72, 6535 yard Kilmarlic Golf Course in Powells Point, NC.

The Monarchs will be joined by Georgia, last year's NCAA Championship runner-up, Delaware, Drexel,Elon, George Mason, Hartford, James Madison, Liberty, Longwood, Louisville, Maryland, Radford, Richmond, St. Joseph's, Towson, William and Mary and Winthrop.

Thus far this Fall, ODU placed second at the Joe Agee Invitational as sophomore John Dawson (Chesapeake, VA.) tied for seventh and sophomore James Brockington (Oxfordshire, England) tied for 10th. The Monarchs also finished fourth at Maryland's tournament led by Neil Henderson's (North Berwick, Scotland) eighth place finish, and Dawson's 12th place finish.

James Madison's Chris Wellde was CAA Co-Player of the Week after a playoff at the Barnabas Health intercollegiate to help the Dukes to first place. The senior shot 71-73 for 144 on the Fiddler's ElbowCountry Club. Earlier this month William and Mary's Jeremy Wells was the CAA Golfer of the Week aftera second place finish at the Joe Agee Invitational.

National runners-up, and current 15th ranked Georgia Bulldogs placed second in Adams Cup led by junior Bryden MacPherson who notched a career high with his runner-up effort as he finished at 10-under 206, including a 4-under 68 in the final round.The University of Hartford is led by senior Matt Smith who has five top eight finishes thus far this Fall.Smith tied for fourth at the Battle at the Tetons and fifth at the Hartford Hawks Invitational with a 72.07stroke average thus far. Longwood has won two tournaments thus far led by Austin Gray, the JoeAgee Tournament medalist and Ross Sumner. Both have 72.0 stroke averages this fall.

In last year's tournament, Richmond finished second, followed by Liberty, Louisville and Radford.
