NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion's Arni Arnason (Mosfellsbaer, Iceland) was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Men's Swimmer of the Week after leading the Monarchs to victory over the 10-time CAA champion UNCW over the weekend with four individual and a relay victory.
On day one action against UNC-Wilmington, Arnason led the Monarchs with a three victories, picking up wins in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke, and in swimming the second leg of the 400 medley relay. Arnason clocked in with a time of 1:52.80, over six seconds faster than second place, in the 200 IM, while he set a new Seahawk Natatorium record with a time of 55.35 in the 100 breast. Arnason, together with Andrew Crockett, Dan Chalifant, and Sidni Hoxha, also won the 400 medley relay clocking in at 3:25.35.
On the second day, Arnason captured the win in the 200 breast with a time of 2:02.94 to help lead the Monarchs to a 186-165 win over the 10-time CAA Champion Seahawks.
The Old Dominion men's and women's swimming and diving squads return to action on Saturday hosting Howard at the J.C. "Scrap" Chandler Pool.
