In the other match 13th ranked Monmouth defeated 16th ranked William and Mary, 1-0. ODU will meet Monmouth Sunday at 2:30, while the Tribe will play ETSU at 12 noon.

"The key to the game was the goal at the end of the half, that was a critical goal for us and that gave us momentum for the second half," said ODU head coach Alan Dawson. "Monmouth is very well coached, very well organized squad. It'll be a very very difficult game. If we could get that crowd we had tonight for every game we might win a few games."

In the second half Yannick Smith (Hillsborough, NJ.) , the CAA co-player of the week stole the ball and got a break-a-way then passed to Tim Hopkinson for the goal to give ODU a 2-0 lead. Hopkinson then assisted Ivan Militar (Szeged, Hunguary) on a goal with 25 minutes left. ODU's fourth and final goal came on an un assisted goal by Asante who scored in a crowd in front of the net.

The Monarchs outshot ETSU, 16-11 overall and 8-4 on shots on goal. Junior keeper Victor Francoz (Fleurieu Sur Saone, France) had four saves and the shutout for ODU.

Sunday's games will be videostreammed as ODU's voice of the Monarchs Ted Alexander will do play-by-pay of the Monarchs-Monmouth match. Color commentary will be done by former Monarch Soccer standout Greg Mottinger ('06).
