MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The men's soccer match between No. 25 Old Dominion and No. 10 West Virginia has been deemed a no contest with no plans for a replay of the match. The game went through multiple weather delays due to thunder and lightning around Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. THis is the second ODU match cancelled due to weather thus far this year. Last week's home opener against Navy was called off due to Hurricane Irene.
The match ended with 4:07 remaining in the first half with the Mountaineers leading 1-0 on a goal by Travis Pittman. Both teams had two shots on-goal with the Mountaineers recording two corner kicks. ODU's Gideon Asante had two shots on goal that were saved by WVU's Pat Eavenson. ODU's Victor Francoz also had save.
The Monarchs return to action when they host the Stihl Soccer Classic beginning Friday afternoon at the ODU Soccer Complex. 13th Ranked W&M will play 17th ranked Monmouth at 4:30, followed by ODU's 7 pm. match against East Tennessee State. All four teams competed in last year's NCAA College Cup.
