RICHMOND, Va. - Old Dominion junior forward Maartje van Rijswijk was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. A Lady Monarch has now won or shared the award all five weeks.
Van Rijswijk recorded seven points (two goals, three assists) in two Old Dominion wins last week. In a 5-0 victory over Hofstra, the junior forward dished out a career-high three assists. Against No. 20 Northeastern, van Rijswijk netted the first two goals of the game in the top-ranked Lady Monarchs' 6-2 win.
Additionally, in the latest NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll, Old Dominion garnered all 44 first-place votes to remain No. 1. The Lady Monarchs are followed by North Carolina, Maryland, Connecticut and Syracuse.
Old Dominion steps out of conference on Friday to take on Richmond on the road. Game time is set for 4 p.m. at the newly-turfed Crenshaw Field.
