NORFOLK, VA-- Jordan LeBlanc and Tim Hopkinson were honored for their efforts in leading the Monarchs to the Stihl Soccer Classic title over the weekend.
Hopkinson,(Nottingham, England) a sophomore forward recorded two goals and an assist as Old Dominion defeated a pair of nationally ranked opponents to win the Stihl Soccer Classic last weekend. The sophomore forward scored the Monarchs' second goal and assisted on the third in a 4-0 victory over #19 East Tennessee State on Friday and then had ODU's final goal in a 3-1 triumph over #13 Monmouth on Sunday. Hopkinson was named to the Stihl Soccer Classic all-tournament team and also was chosen to TopDrawerSoccer's National Team of the Week.
Jordan LeBlanc (Haverford, PA.), a junior Midfielder Jordan LeBlanc, who was the MVP of the 36th annual Stihl Soccer Classic, was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week.
NATIONAL RANKINGS: The Monarchs are one of three CAA team in the national polls this week. ODU, which is off to a 3-0 start after beating two nationally ranked opponents, is ranked #12 by College Soccer News and #17 by TopDrawerSoccer. TheNSCAA and Soccer America will release their rankings on Tuesday.
CAA DOMINATES REGIONAL RANKINGS: Five CAA teams were among the top 10 in the South Atlantic region rankings released by the NSCAA on Sept. 12. Old Dominion is ranked #4 in the region VCU is #5, William & Mary is #6, George Mason is #8 and Northeastern is tied for #9. Delaware was among others receiving votes.
