MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - Lisa Bernardini scored a late goal for Old Dominion but McCallie Jones scored twice to lead College of Charleston to a 2-1 win over the Lady Monarchs Sunday afternoon in the final game of the College of Charleston Cup.

CofC (4-3) got on the board in the second minute as Hope Atkinson sent a pass back to McCallie Jones who sent a shot from the top of the box into the net for the 1-0 lead.

In the 77th minute, the Cougars' Sarah Cardamone sent in a corner kick that was kicked back in front by Hannah Gmerek that deflected off of Jones into the goal for a 2-0 CofC lead.

In the 88th minute, ODU (2-4-1) sent a ball in the box, where the Cougars were charged with a hand ball in the box and ODU was awarded a penalty kick. Lisa Bernardini took the kick and beat Taylor Avery to the left.

In the 35th minute of play, Bernardini beat the defender down the goalline and delivered a shot off the right post.

Neither team generated much offense in the first half, as CofC held a slim 3-2 advantage.

Just five minutes into the second half, Bernardini slipped a pass between two defenders to Victoria Johnson but her shot was deflected wide by CofC keeper Avery.

With six minutes left in the game, Amber Cook got a pass from Kelly Evans and fired a shot to the left corner that Avery just got a piece of to deflect out of bounds.

ODU finished the match with a 9-8 edge in shots and a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Tori Diersen and Victoria Johnson were named to the All-Tournament team.

The Lady Monarchs return home on Sunday, Sept. 18 when they host Radford at 1 p.m.
