RICHMOND, Va. - Old Dominion boasts three of the 11 players selected to the 2011 Colonial Athletic Association Preseason Field Hockey Team, the league announced today. Senior Kathryn Kirk, junior Maartje van Rijswijk and sophomore Kati Nearhouse were all selected to the team in a vote by the league's head coaches.

Van Rijswijk, a First Team All-CAA pick a season ago, is ODU's leading returning goal scorer from last year's squad. She ranked third in the CAA in goals (16) and sixth in the league in points (33) in 2010 as she helped guide Old Dominion to its 14th conference title and a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

Kirk tallied four goals, dished out five assists and amassed 13 points for ODU last season. The senior forward scored the lone goal in the Lady Monarch's thrilling double-overtime victory over Drexel in the 2010 CAA Championship game. The Lititz, Pa. native was a Second Team All-CAA pick at the conclusion of last season.

Nearhouse made an immediate impact for the Lady Monarchs in 2010, seeing action in 23 of 24 games as a freshman. The Nanticoke, Pa. native scored a goal and registered two assists en route to earning CAA All-Rookie accolades.
