RICHMOND, Va. - Junior midfielder Lisa Bernardini was named First-Team All-CAA while classmate Sarah Geary earned second-team honors at goalkeeper, the CAA announced Wednesday. Voting was conducted by the leagues coaches.
Bernardini led the Lady Monarchs with 34 goals, 16 assists and 50 points. She is currently fifth in the CAA in goals and assists per game and tied for third in points per game.
A native of Langhorne, Pa., Bernardini scored multiple goals in 10 games and had multiple points in all but one game, including a season-best six points on five goals and an assist against Richmond. Bernardini will take a consecutive point streak of 34 games into next season. It is the second time in her career she has recieved CAA postseason honors, as the junior earned all-freshman accolades in 2009.
Geary played every minute in goal for ODU, making 130 saves and posting a .422 save percentage. She made a season-best 16 saves against American and had six games with double-digit saves.
A native of Springfield, Pa., Geary led the Lady Monarchs with 52 groundballs and 30 caused turnovers. Geary ranks fourth in the nation in ground balls per game and 10th in caused turnovers. It is the second time in her career earning all-CAA honors, as she was named to the second-team, the all-rookie team and Rookie of the Year in 2009.
