HARRISONBURG, Va. - Old Dominion University scored three goals mid-way through the second half to cut James Madision lead to two but the Dukes followed with nine-straight goals en route to a 14-3 win Friday night in Harrisonburg.
The two teams fought through a wet surface in the first half, neither team was able to get much offense. JMU took a 5-0 lead into halftime.
The Lady Monarchs stormed out of halftime, getting on the board with a goal from Alyssa Dragon. Lisa Bernardini sent a pass from the right side to Dragon who sent a shot past the goalie to make the score 5-1.
ODU came right back as Meredith Rogers sent a scoop pass to Bernardini who dodged two defenders and sent a shot into the goal to make it 5-2.
Old Dominion came right back again as Sarah Wright received a pass from Bernardini in front of the goal and sent in a shot past the keeper to make it 5-3 and force a JMU timeout.
JMU came out of the timeout, won the draw control and scored on a shot by Caitlin McHugh. JMU kept on the attack scoring four goals in two minutes to take control of the game.
The game was delayed at the start 45 minutes due to lightning in the area.
