TOWSON, Md. - Old Dominion University women's lacrosse dropped an 11-5 decision at Towson on a rainy Friday night.
With the loss, ODU drops to 4-9 overall and 3-2 in the CAA while Towson improves to 9-6 overall and 5-1 in CAA play.
Towson built up a 6-2 halftime lead en route to the victory.
Lisa Bernardini brought ODU back to within 7-4 with two-straight goals to begin the second half.
Towson's Ashley Waldron scored two minutes into the half but Bernardini grabbed the draw control and raced down the field just 19 seconds later for her first goal of the game.
Bernardini went right back to work, grabbing the next draw control and scoring 15 seconds later to cut the deficit to 7-4.
Towson came back with three-straight goals to take a 10-4 lead.
ODU made the score 11-5 when Emily Austerberry received a pass from Courtney Clough in the middle of the field and turned and fired past the right side of the goalie.
Sarah Wright got the Lady Monarchs on the board first when she started in the center off of a foul and beat the Towson keep with a shot over her left shoulder.
Towson scored five-straight, two from Waldron to take a 5-1 lead.
ODU fought back with 22 seconds left as Wright had a free possession attempt and dropped a pass down low to Rebecca Reymann who beat the goalie to make the score 5-2.
With time running down, the Tigers were able to grab the draw control and Waldron scored with four seconds left to give Towson a 6-2 halftime advantage.
Bernardini led ODU with two goals while Wright added a goal and an assist.
Waldron led the Tigers with four goals and an assist while Jackie LaMonica added two goals and two assists.
Sarah Geary made four stops in goal for ODU while Mary Teeters made five saves for Towson.
ODU goes on the road for the final time this season when they travel to Delaware for a 1 p.m. game on Sunday.
