NORFOLK, Va. - Rebecca Hartrum scored three goals and the Old Dominion University women's lacrosse held George Mason without a shot on its last possession to take a 10-9 win Sunday afternoon at the Powhatan Sports Complex.

Each team scored six goals for a tie game heading into halftime, the Lady Monarchs came out after the break with three-straight goals to take control.

Emily Austerberry gave ODU a 7-6 lead seven minutes into the half before Hartrum scored two goals 49 seconds apart for the 9-6 lead.

George Mason fought back to make it 9-8 before another Hartrum goal made it 10-8. Emma Kriss sent a pass from behind the goal to Hartrum who send a shot from the left side past the GMU goalie.

Allie Hilderbrandt made it 10-9 with five minutes remaining in the game, but with 23 seconds left, Mason got the ball back but was unable to get a shot off due to ODU's relentless defense.

The game was even throughout the first half, as neither team held more than a one goal advantage.

ODU got on the board first when Bernardini scored on a free position shot just 49 seconds into the contest.

George Mason tied it with a goal by Anna Kopecka but Sarah Wright regained the lead for the Lady Monarchs with an unassisted goal just 19 seconds later.

The Patriots fought back with two-straight goals to take their first lead of the game but Rebecca Reymann picked up a loose ball and fired a shot past the GMU goalie to tie the score at four.

The Lady Monarchs struck again with an Alyssa Dragon goal for the 5-4 advantage. As was the theme, Mason tied the score with a goal from Kopecka.

Wright scored her second goal of the game off of a pass from Bernardini but Kopecka tied the score at six with just 16 seconds left in the half to make a 6-6 game.

Sarah Wright and Rebecca Reymann scored two goals apiece for ODU while Hilderbrandt scored four times for Mason.

The Lady Monarchs continue their homestand on Friday when they on Drexel at 7 p.m. in the annual Scholarship game.
