NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University women's tennis capped its weekend off by opening its Colonial Athletic Association part of the schedule with a win, defeating James Madison 5-2 Sunday at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center.
All three doubles matches were back and forth, but the Lady Monarchs earned the doubles point with a win at NO. 1 singles by Joanna Dobrowolska and Melissa Esnal Olguin and at the No. 3 spot by Diana Ivanova and Juliana Pires.
Dobrowolska won her second-straight singles match with a dominating 6-0, 6-2 win over Kinsey Pate. Diana Ivanova was victorious at the No. 2 spot over Michelle Nguyen, 6-3, 6-2.
Nika Khmolovska picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 5 spot while Arina Aliliueva finished the day with an exciting 11-9 third set tie-breaker win over Kristin Nimitz.
The Lady Monarchs return to action next weekend as they host UMBC on Saturday at noon and Texas Arlington Sunday at 10 a.m.
