RICHMOND, Va. - Old Dominion will be looking to avenge an early season loss to Virginia Commonwealth as the Lady Monarchs travel to Richmond to take on the Rams Thursday at 7 p.m. The game will be televised live on Cox11 and can be heard on ESPN Radio 94.1.
Thursday's contest will be a pivotal one in the Colonial Athletic Association standings as Old Dominion (17-7, 11-2 CAA) is holding onto second-place in the league race and VCU (14-9, 9-4 CAA) is currently fourth. The Lady Monarchs are just a game behind first-place James Madison and the Rams are one game up on Delaware for the final first round bye spot in next month's league tournament.
Old Dominion, which topped VCU 67-65 on its home floor last season, has won six of its last seven games, including a 68-60 win over third-place UNC Wilmington Sunday.
The Lady Monarchs have been extremely well balanced offensively lately with five different players leading the team in scoring in each of the last five games. ODU will be looking to extend the streak of road teams picking up wins in this series, with each of the last three victories going to the visitors.
Thursday's game features two of the Top 5 offenses in the CAA with VCU ranked fourth (67.2) and ODU coming in fifth (64.6) in points per game.
The Rams are led by Courtney Hurt, who is second in the conference in scoring (23.0 ppg) and first in the nation in rebounding at 12.9 boards per contest. VCU has won two of its last three games, including an 85-76 win over Hofstra on Sunday.
The Rams are 6-1 in league home games and boast the league's top rebounding margin, besting their opponents by 6.2 boards a game.
John Castleberry and Cal Bowdler will have the call for TV, while Tony Mercurio and Susan Montgomery will relay the action for ESPN Radio 94.1.
