NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion women's basketball team will look to rebound from its first Colonial Athletic Association loss of the season as the Lady Monarchs host Towson on Sunday at 2 p.m.
The contest will air on STAR 1310 AM with Tony Mercurio providing the play-by-play and Susan Montgomery giving color analysis. Fans are also reminded that Sunday is Big Blue birthday celebration and all in attendance can join the ODU mascot as he celebrates with free ice cream and cake one hour before tip.
The Lady Monarchs will be facing Towson for the second time this season as ODUupended the Tigers in Maryland, 69-63, on January 2. Old Dominion was led bythe return of senior Alena Voronina, who scored a career-high 25 points in her firstgame back from injury.
Old Dominion (11-6, 5-1 CAA) saw its five-game win streak snapped Thursdayagainst VCU and is currently in a four-way tie atop the CAA standings. The loss tothe Rams denied Lady Monarch head coach Wendy Larry her 600th career win, butSunday will provide another opportunity for the legendary coach to become the20th all-time Division I coach to reach the 600-win plateau.
Towson (7-10, 1-5 CAA) has dropped five of its last six games, but its lone win inthat time frame came against VCU at home. Five Tigers scored in double figures inthe meeting between ODU and Towson on January 2. Senior forward DovileMiliauskaite paced the team with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Towson is 3-5 on the road this season and winless in two road CAA games thus far. Sheree Ledbetter is the lone Tiger averaging double-figures in scoring at 10.0 points per game.
