RICHMOND, Va. - Junior Tia Lewis was selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Co-Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. The forward/center shares the award with Virginia Commonwealth's Courtney Hurt.
Lewis posted a pair of double-double's as the Lady Monarchs went 2-0 on the week. The Poulan, Ga. native averaged 17 points and 11 rebounds in two CAA games and she shot 54.2 percent from the field.
Lewis tied her career-high with 24 points and added 10 rebounds in a 70-66 Lady Monarch win over George Mason on Thursday. She then followed that up with a 10-point and 12-rebound effort in a dominant 71-55 ODU win over James Madison Sunday.
Lewis now has six double-doubles on the year and three in her last four games.
Old Dominion returns to the hardwood Thursday at Georgia State. The contest will tip at 7 p.m. in Atlanta.
