NORFOLK, Va. - Senior Jasmine Parker scored a game-high 16 points to become the 28th Lady Monarch to score 1,000 career points, but it wouldn't be enough as Old Dominion fell to No. 9/8 Tennessee, 74-44, Sunday afternoon in front of a women's basketball record crowd of 7,774.

Junior Tia Lewis pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds to go along with six points on 3-of-4 shooting for the Lady Monarchs, who fall to 3-3 on the year and drop their first contest of the season at the Constant Center.

The record crowd just surpassed the 7,758 fans in attendance at the Jan. 7, 2003 ODU-Tennessee game. Four of the top five women's basketball attendance marks have come against the Lady Vols.

Freshman Meighan Simmons led Tennessee (8-1) with 14 points and four assists. The Lady Vols were solid down low, holding a 37-14 points in the paint advantage. UT also had a distinct advantage in bench scoring (25-6), with 10 of the points coming from Kamiko Williams.

Old Dominion grabbed an early 7-6 lead on a jumper by JoNiquia Guilford at the 15:14 mark, but the Lady Vols went on a 10-1 run from that point. Simmons capped the UT spurt with a jumper at the midway point of the opening half to give the Lady Vols a 16-8 lead.

Tennessee led 40-22 at the half and ODU got no closer than 15 the rest of the way.

Old Dominion returns to the hardwood on Wednesday as the Lady Monarchs welcome George Washington to the Ted Constant Center for a 7 p.m. tip.
