NORFOLK, Va. - Junior Tia Lewis poured in a season-high 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Old Dominion to a wire-to-wire 71-47 victory over Stony Brook Tuesday evening at the Ted Constant Center.
The double-double was Lewis' third of the season and 24th of her career as Old Dominion improves its record to 5-4 overall and 5-1 at home.
Senior Jasmine Parker scored in double figures for the eighth time this season with 14 points. The guard also swiped a career-high seven steals and dished out a season-high tying six assists in the win.
Senior Shadasia Green contributed in all facets of the game with eight points, a career-high tying 11 rebounds and a career-high seven assists. Green has pulled down 21 rebounds in her last two games and has led ODU in rebounding three times this season from the guard spot.
Whitney Davis led Stony Brook (3-8), which shot just 28.6 percent from the field, with 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Old Dominion, which ranks third in the nation in three-point field goal percentage defense, held the Seawolves to a 1-of-11 clip from beyond the arc.
Old Dominion took control of the game midway through the first half, going on a 19-4 run to improve its lead to 34-16. Parker scored seven points during the stretch, while Lewis added six.
The Lady Monarchs never looked back, pushing their lead up to as many as 29 in the second half. The 24-point win is ODU's second largest margin of victory this season.
Sophomore JoNiquia Guilford pulled down a career-high tying seven rebounds and Brittany Campbell, Brianca Washington and LaNia Charity all posted season-high's in scoring.
Old Dominion now heads down to New Orleans, La. to compete in the Tulane/Double Tree Classic December 28-29. The Lady Monarchs will first face-off against Charlotte next Tuesday at 9 p.m. before taking on either Tulane or Nicholls State the following evening.
