NORFOLK, VA--Old Dominion University men's soccer head coach Alan Dawson has been selected to serve as a Combine Coach at the 2011 adidas MLS Player Combine which will be held in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Jan. 7-11.
The College Coaches will serve as head coaches for the Combine and Youth Coaches willserve as the Assistant Coaches. The coaches will be helping players compete for a shot at making an MLS Team.
Dawson ( 159-89-25 in 14 years at ODU) led the Monarchs to a 10-7-2 record and the school's seventh appearance in the NCAA College Cup in the last nine years. ODU defeated defending National Champion Virginia in the first round, before losing to Penn State in the second.
Since coming to ODU in 1997, Dawson's teams have had three CAA Defenders of the Year, four CAA Rookies of the Year, three CAA Players of the Year, seven NSCAAAll-Americans, two freshmen All-Americans and three Academic All-Americans. After 23 total years as a collegiate head coach, Dawson is just 12 career wins shy of 300.
