NORFOLK, Va. - Four Monarchs were honored for their performances last week against Savannah State by the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA). Freshman Aaron Evans was named the National Kick Returner of the Week, while quarterback Thomas DeMarco (Palm Desert, Calif.), punter Jonathan Plisco (Newport News, Va.) and linebacker Craig Wilkins (Washington, D.C.) were Honorable Mention Players of the Week.

Evans had a pair of kickoff returns in ODU's 57-9 win over the Tigers, including a 92-yard kick return for a touchdown. It was the Monarchs' first kick return for a score in the 20-game history of the Monarch program.

DeMarco completed eight of his 13 attempts in the air for the Monarchs, racking up 198 yards with a pair of touchdowns.

Plisco meanwhile returned to the No. 1 spot in the nation in punting after averaging 49.5 yards on a pair of punts in last Saturday's game with Savannah State.

Wilkins was also responsible for helping ODU to its largest point total in history with a 25-yard interception return for a touchdown. The redshirt sophomore co-captain also amassed seven stops and an 11-yard sack in last Saturday's win.

The ODU Football Monarchs return to action on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. against VMI in its final home game of the 2010 season. Eleven Monarch seniors will be honored prior to kick.
