GAINESVILLE, Fla. - In a game that saw seven lead changes in the second half alone, the University of Florida came out on top, 63-55, over Old Dominion in non-conference women's basketball action at the O'Connell Center in Gainesville, Fla. Tuesday evening.

Senior Shadasia Green paced the Lady Monarchs (3-2) with a game-high 14 points, while junior Tia Lewis chipped in 11 and senior Jasmine Parker added 10 and a team-high six rebounds.

Kayla Lewis netted a team-high 13 points to lead Florida, which improves to 6-1 on the year. The Gators had a huge advantage in both free throw attempts (36-13) and bench points (37-11).

The Lady Monarchs started the opening half hitting their first three shots and a traditional three-point play by senior Alena Voronina gave ODU a 7-0 lead less than two minutes into the contest.

The Gators slowly closed the gap in the first period and took their first lead (25-24) on a Ndidi Madu jumper with just 20 seconds remaining before halftime. Old Dominion responded on its next possession as Parker found an open Jackie Cook, who drilled a triple at the buzzer to give the Lady Monarchs a 27-25 advantage entering intermission.

With the Lady Monarchs leading 32-29 early in the second half, Florida went on its biggest run of the game, a 10-0 spurt that put the Gators up seven at the 11:34 mark. The seesaw battle continued as Old Dominion went on an 11-3 run to regain the lead. Parker canned a deep three-point field goal to give the Lady Monarchs a 43-42 lead with just over eight minutes remaining.

Old Dominion increased its lead to four (51-47) at the 5:13 mark, but the Gators took over from that point. Florida closed the game on a 16-4 run, with 10 of those points coming from the charity stripe.

The Lady Monarchs are back at home on Sunday, taking on No. 8/9 Tennessee at the Constant Center. The contest against the Lady Vols will be televised on Cox 11 and Comcast Mid-Atlantic starting at 2 p.m. The game will be a BLUE OUT and all fans are encouraged to wear ODU Blue to the game.
