PORTSMOUTH, R.I. - Former Old Dominion standout sailor Kyle Rogachenko has been selected to be apart of the 2011 US Sailing Development team.

A total of 55 talented athletes were named to the 2011 US Sailing Development Team (USSDT), the youth pipeline team supported by US SAILING's Olympic Sailing Committee (OSC). The USSDT was created in 2009 to help young athletes, who have been identified as future Olympic prospects, acquire the skills necessary to launch successful campaigns and compete at the Olympic level.

In addition to receiving elite-level coaching, guidance and mentoring, the USSDT members benefit from joint training with US Sailing Team AlphaGraphics (USSTAG) members and other top young sailors from across the United States.

Rogachenko was one of 11 athletes chosen to sail Lasers (one person dinghy's).

During the 2008-09 collegiate season, Rogachenko led the fleet all three days at the ICSA Singlehanded National Championships before finishing in a tie for first, only falling to Cy Thompson (Roger Williams) on a tiebreaker for first-place. Rogachenko was the first male national qualifier for ODU since Brad Funk finished second in 2001.

For a list of the athletes, their hometowns, yacht club affiliations and schools, as well as the 2011 training and competition schedule, please visit the USSDT page on the US SAILING web site: http://sailingteams.ussailing.org/Teams/2011USSDT.htm
