Monarchs Roll to 79-57 Win Over High Point

NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University jumped out to a quick double-digit lead and never looked back on their win to a 79-57 win over High Point Monday night at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.

ODU had four players in double-figures led by Frank Hassell's double-double, with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Trian Iliadis and Ben Finney added 12 points while Keyon Carter added 10 points and six rebounds.Red-shirt freshmen Josh Hicks and Anton Larsen had career highs. Hicks with five points, three assists, while Larsen scored six points.

Marquel De Lancey started in the place of the injured Darius James and dished outa career high five assists along with two points.

All 10 Monarchs that saw action on the night scored at least two points, and allbut one grabbed atleast one rebounds.

ODU shot .473 (26-55) from the floor while High Point was held to .296 (16-54).The Monarchs also dominated the boards, 46-34.

The Monarchs jumped out to a 42-16 lead with 4:17 left in the first half after a Kent Bazemore free throw. ODU shot .571 (16-28) from the floor, while the Panthersmanaged only .241(7-29). In the second half,ODU's biggest lead was 35 at the 6:56 mark with a 69-34 bulge.

ODU forced High Point into 16 turnovers as Keyon Carter and Kent Bazemore had three steals each, while Trian Iliadis and Chris Cooper added two each. The Monarchsblocked eight more shots on the night with Frank Hassell and Nick Wright swattingthree each.

High Point was led by Shay Shine with 13 points, followed by Big South Pre-season Player of the Year Nick Barbour with 11. Maxwell Du'Vaughan led HPU wiht nine rebounds.

Old Dominion now hits the road to compete in the Paradise Jam Tournament in the U.S. Virgin Islands starting Friday, Nov. 19 when they take on St. Peter's. Game time is 1 p.m.
