NORFOLK, VA--Old Dominion senior forward Ben Finney scored 18 points to lead the Monarchs to a 79-48 exhibition win over the Trojans of Virginia State Monday night at the Constant Center.

Four Monarchs scored in double-figures tonight. Joining Finney was Kent Bazemore with 12, Keyon Carter with 11 and junior Marquel De Lancey with 10. Finney hit six of 10 shots form the floor and hauled in six rebounds for ODU. He also had two assists and two steals. Carter grabbed six rebounds, while Frank Hassell and Chris Cooper dominated the boards with nine recoveries each. De Lancey was five-for six from the field.

ODU shot .441 (30-68) from the field and outrebounded the Trojans, 55-25, as each Monarch hauled down atleast one board. The Monarchs led 43-19 at halftime behind Kent Bazemore's 12 points and six boards. Virginia State from the CIAA shot .358 (19-53) from the field. ODU also came up with seven steals, led by Finney and Trian Iliadis with two each.

Virginia State was led by D'Angelo Johnson with nine points, followed by Davon Charity with eight.Both were four-for six from the field.

ODU returns to action Saturday when they host Elizabeth City State at 7 p.m. in an exhibition game at the Constant Center.
