NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion field hockey team will put its current five-game winning streak to the test as the 19th-ranked Lady Monarchs travel to No. 20 Drexel on Friday and Hofstra on Sunday.
Old Dominion (6-6, 3-0 CAA) and Drexel (8-3, 3-0) are the only two undefeated teams remaining in the conference. The Top 20 battle is set to get underway at 7 p.m. ODU's matchup against the Pride on Sunday is set to begin at 1 p.m.
The Lady Monarchs are coming off a pair of convincing wins over 2009 CAA champion Delaware and Towson last week. The Lady Monarchs outscored their conference foes by a combined 14-0 in the two games.
ODU, which has recorded four straight shutouts, was sparked by senior midfielder Loran Hatch's five goals last week. Hatch tallied her first career hat trick against the Blue Hens and then posted a pair of goals against the Tigers to raise her team-leading goal total to 11 on the season.
The Dragons tallied a trio of road wins last week to push their record to 8-3 overall. Senior forward Christina Mastropaolo scored three goals, including a pair of game-winners, and added an assist as the Dragons blew by Villanova, VCU and James Madison. Mastropaolo has netted at least one goal in each of Drexel's last four outings, all victories.
Hofstra (5-7, 0-3) is coming off a pair of CAA losses to James Madison and VCU last weekend. Junior Arielle Williams tallied her team-high tying ninth goal of the season and senior Becky Kazaks secured her first score of the year in the loss to the Rams. The Pride have a 5-0 record at home this season.
