NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion women's swimming and diving squad returns to the pool this weekend as they host Radford on Saturday, October 30th at J.C. "Scrap" Chandler Pool in the Student Recreation Center. Diving kicks off of the meet and begins at 11 a.m.
The Old Dominion women's swimming and diving team kicked off the 2010-11 season back on October 9th with a 177-118 win over the University of Richmond and a 138-138 setback to CAA rival UNC-Wilmington.
Erla Haraldsdottir (Njardvik, Iceland) and Jessica Hubert (Newport News, Va.) were the multiple first place finishers for the Lady Monarchs. Haraldsdottir took the top times in both the 100 breast (1:04.64) and 200 breast (2:23.29), while Hubert touched the wall first in both the 100 fly (57.66 )and 200 fly (2:05.96).
Other top performances for the Lady Monarchs against the Seahawks and Spiders included April Barrientos (Va. Beach, Va.) with a first place time in the 100 back (57.07), Danielle Naylor (Swinton, England) with the top time in the 1000 free (10:20.81), and a first place finish for the 400 medley relay team (3:50.04).
Following Saturday's meet, the Lady Monarchs return to the water in the annual pod meet being held at James Madison in Harrisonburg, Va., November 5th-7th. In addition to facing the Dukes, ODU will also take on the College of William & Mary, Northeastern, and the College of Charleston. The men's team will also be in action on that day taking on the Tribe of William & Mary.
