NORFOLK, VA-- The Old Dominion University Soccer Monarchs (7-3-2/3-1-2) moved up to 11th in the latest NCAA Men's Soccer RPI travel to Atlanta, Ga. to take on the Panthers of Georgia State Wednesday night at 7 p.m. ODU, ranked fourth in the NSCAA South Atlantic Region is tied for second in the CAA with UNC Wilmington.
ODU leads the series with Georgia State, 5-0. The Panthers are led in scoring by Eric Lawrence withThree goals, while Yasser Majluf, Alxe Vivanco and Jocob Hamilton each have two goals on the season.
Four CAA teams are in the NCAA Men's Soccer RPI top 40. William and Mary is fifth, ODU is 11th, GeorgeMason is 29th and UNC Wilmington is 36th.
ODU has allowed only seven goals this season which is the fewest goals of any team in the CAA. Freshman Gideon Asante is 10th in the CAA in goals scored with four, while senior goalkeeper EvanNewton ranks third in goals against average at 0.61, third in shutouts with four and fifth in saves with 42. Chris Harmon, Jordan LeBlanc and Alex Vaughan each have three goals, while Harmon, Tim Hopkinson and Yannick Smith each have two assists.
