Four Freshmen And A Sophomore Lead ODU Over Towson, 4-1

NORFOLK, VA-- Old Dominion sophomore Jordan LeBlanc (Haverford, PA.) along with freshmen Alex Vaughan (Va. Beach, VA), Gideon Asante (Sunyani, Ghana) and Placide Buduri (San Antonio, TX.), each scored a goal to lead ODU men's soccer to a 4-1 CAA victory over Towson Saturday night. Fellow freshman Tim Hopkinson(Nottingham, England) assisted on two goals.

ODU, ranked fourth in the region and 25th in the NCAA RPI is now 7-3-2 overall (3-1-2 in the CAA), Towson falls to 7-4-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the CAA.

The Monarchs scored two goals in each half as Alex Vaughan got ODU on the board first with anunassisted goal at the 33:39 mark. 11 minutes later Jordan LeBlanc got a pass from Hopkinson to give ODU a 2-0 halftime lead.

Gideon Asante started the second half scoring after he got a pass on the break from Hopkinson to giveThe Monarchs a 3-0 lead. Towson countered with a flurry of opportunities when with less than 20 minutes remaining Zach Hoffer connected to make it 3-1.

ODU added its fourth goal on a break-a-way by freshman Placide Buduri to complete the scoring.

Asante now leads the Monarchs with four goals, one assist for nine points, while LeBlanc is third withthree goals, one assist for seven points. Alex Vaughan also has three goals and Buduri netted hisfirst collegiate goal tonight.

Senior goalkeeper Evan Newton (Virginia Beach, Va.) had three saves for the Monarchs who returnto action on Wednesday night in Atlanta against Georgia State.
