NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Soccer Monarchs return to action Saturday night at 7 p.m.against Towson. In the latest NCAA RPI rankings, the CAA has five teams in theRPI top 40 with the Monarchs at number 25 and Towson at 31.
The Tigers (7-3-1/1-3-1) are led in scoring by Marco Mangione with nne goals, seven assists and 25 total points. Olakunle Banjo is second with seven goals, two assistsand 16 points followed by Liam Maloney with three goals, five assists and 11 points.Those three are ranked among the CAA's top six scorers.
Towson has lost to JMU(3-2), Drexel (4-3), George Mason (3-2), tied William andMary (1-1) and defeated Hofstra (2-0).
ODU and Towson have met 16 with ODU leading the series, 7-6-3. Last year, the Tigers defeated ODU, 2-1.
ODU sophomore Chris Harmon is tied for the CAA lead with three game-winning goals.Evan Newton leads the CAA in save percentage at .867 and is third in total saves with 39 and four shutouts.
Harmon along with Gideon Asante are tied with a team best three goals each. Harmonhas eight points, followed by Asante with seven and Jordan LeBlanc with five points.
