NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University women's soccer starts CAA play this weekend as they travel to George Mason and Towson.
The Lady Monarchs take on the Patriots on Friday at 6 p.m. and travel to Towson on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match.
About the Lady MonarchsODU (2-3-1) is coming off a tough two-game stretch against NC State and UNC Greensboro. The Lady Monarchs had several great scoring chances against the Wolfpack but were unable to score in a 1-0 loss. Old Dominion hung tough with the Spartans but dropped a 3-1 decision.
Freshman Amber Cook scored the lone goal against UNCG and leads the squad with three goals. Jocelyn Weidner and Kirstin Walker have two goals apiece, while Weidner is second on the team in points with five. The Junior defender has been great at set pieces for the Lady Monarchs, leading the team and ranking second in the CAA with four assists.
Sophomore goalkeeper Brianna Alvarado posts a 1.47 goals against average and has 17 saves on the year.
About the PatriotsGeorge Mason is 4-3-1 on the year, and is coming off a 2-1 overtime loss to No. 7 Maryland. Before that, the Patriots had won three in a row with wins over American, VMI and a come-from-behind victory over Maryland Baltimore County.
Omolyn Davis leads the team with five goals and a CAA best six assists for 16 points. Tiana Kallenberger and Zoe Doherty have three goals and two assists apiece.
Alex Bodenschatz has played the majority of time in goal, posting a 1.49 GAA with 28 saves.
About the TigersTowson is 4-2-3 on the year, fresh off a 1-0 double overtime win versus Monmouth.
Cheyenne Skidmore leads the team with six points while Emily Baines leads the Tigers with three assists.
Jocelyn Papciak has played every minute in goal, posting a 0.73 GAA and making 35 saves.
