WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Nika Khmolovska led Old Dominion Unviersity women's tennis with a second place finish in Flight E singles over the weekend at the William & Mary Invitational.
Khmolovska earned a spot in the finals with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Ripley Hartmeyer, advancing to take on No. 3 seed Burce Kurkan (Maryland). The ODU freshman from Ukraine fell in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, in the finals.
Diana Ivanova continued her solid weekend with a win over Maryland's Jordan Hansbrough on Sunday, 6-1, 5-7, 10-8. It was Ivanova's second win of the weekend.
After dropping her first match of the tournament, sophomore Juliana Pires came back with a 6-1, 1-6, 10-7 win over Penn's Stephanie Do. Pires fell to Marshall's Karli Timko 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 in her next match. Pires came back to defeat Kara Kucin (Marshall) 8-0 in her final match of the tournament.
Melissa Esnal capped a 2-1 weekend with a 6-2, 5-7, 10-4 win over Columbia's Katerina Kovacevic on Sunday.
