WASHINGTON, DC - Old Dominion University women's soccer got second half goals from Kate Kelly and Victoria Johnson to defeat George Washington 2-0 in an exhibition match Tuesday evening.

The Lady Monarchs held a 9-3 shot advantage at the break, but were unable to get on the board until four minutes into the second half when Kelly headed a ball into the right side of the net for the first goal of the game.

ODU added another goal in the 81st minute when Johnson headed in a cross from Kelly Evans.

Old Dominion held a 14-7 shot advantage over the Colonials and a 9-5 lead in corner kicks.

Brianna Alvarado made five saves in goal to record the shutout, while Lindsey Rowe registered six saves in the first half.

Rachael Carroll and Ashley Kukura led ODU with three shots apiece while Ashley Starks and Cara Cadigan had two apiece for George Washington.

The Lady Monarchs open the regular season at home on Sunday, Aug. 22 against Syracuse at 1 p.m.
