SAN ANTONIO, TX-- ODU signee Richard Ross won theTexas High School slam dunk contest and helped lead the North squad to victory earlier this week.
Hirschi graduate Richard Ross wowed yet another audience on the basketball court in the THSCA All-Star game.
Ross, representing the North squad, scored eight points in his team's 113-95 victory at Bill Greehey Arena.
But the soon-to-be Old Dominion freshman made an even bigger impression during halftime.
That was when Ross won the slam dunk contest. The 6-6 post player took off from the free-throw line on one successful slam. Another dunk came after he received a pass from a North teammate in the stands.
"I had a great time getting to know the other players," said Ross, who also had a highlight-reel block in the second half, but was whistled for the foul on the play. "It's a great honor to be here."
Denison's T.J. Taylor, a University of Oklahoma signee, was the North's MVP with 18 points.
Darius Richardson of Fort Bend Bush was named the South MVP with a 23-point performance.
