HUNTINGTON, W. Va. -- Junior Nadine Fahoum, ranked 21st in the nation, earned her 35th win of the season and eighth over a nationally ranked opponent, but the Lady Monarchs fell, 6-1, to the #58 Marshall Thundering Herd on Friday.
The nation's 67th ranked duo, Fahoum and Joanna Dobrowolska earned the win at No. 1 doubles, but the Lady Monarchs slipped behind, 1-0, with losses at No. 2 and 3.
In singles play, Fahoum was matched up with her fourth Top 50 opponent in the last 11 matches as she faced #35 Michaela Kissell in the top flight of singles play. The two battled, as Fahoum took the first set, but Kissell tied it up with a win of the second. In the third set, the ODU junior won, 7-5, for the victory.
She improves to 35-5 overall this season with a 20-2 mark in dual play.
Both Irina Dementyeva and Diana Ivanova stretched their opponents to a third set, but could not pull out wins for the Lady Monarchs.
Old Dominion falls to 14-8 overall this season and will finish out the 2010 regular season on April 7 at 3:00 p.m. versus William & Mary. It will be their final match before hosting the CAA Tournament beginning on April 15.
