Lee, Finney, Bazemore And Iliadis Earn CAA Honors

RICHMOND, VA--Gerald Lee(Uusikaupunki, Finland), and Ben Finney (Portsmouth, VA.) were named to the All-CAA team and Kent Bazemore (Kelford, NC.) earned CAA All-Defensive honors as selected by the league head coaches, media and sports information Directors. Sophomore Trian Iliadis (Perth, W. Australia) was named first team All-Academic.

ODU longtime Athletic Director Jim Jarrett was honored by the CAA for his 40 yearsof success with the Monarch program. ODU Sports Hall of Famer, Petey Sessoms ('95), who helped the Monarchs defeat Villanova in the 1995 NCAA tournament was also on hand as part of the CAA's 25th anniverasary celebration.

Lee repeats as a member of the first team, while Finney was selected to the third team. Lee averaged 14.3 points per game and 5.1 rebounds per game. Lee ranked 4th in the league in field goal percentage at .531. Lee now has 1,548 Career points which rank him 14th all-time on the ODU scoring list and is three games shy of the career games played mark set last year by Jonathan Adams. He also has 655 career rebounds. Lee scored 24 against Duquesne, 22 against Marshall, 21 vs. VCU and 20 against Mississippi State.

Ben Finney, a third team All-CAA selection averaged 9.0 points per game and was second on the team in rebounding at 5.8 per game.Finney ranks 14th in the CAA in rebounding. He scored a season high 19 against Drexel and George Mason, while hauling down a career high tying 11 boards against William and Mary. 18 times he hadsix or more rebounds.

Kent Bazemore ranked second in the CAA in steals at 1.9. He averaged 8.4 points and 3.4 assists per game. 17 times he made two or more steals in a game, including six against Georgia State. BazemoreAlso had four steals in a game four times this season.

Iliadis was named first team CAA All-Academic as he carries a 3.84 grade point average in biochemistry. He played in all 31 games with a 3.3 pointPer game average. He scored 13 against Charlotte and 11 against Georgetown and Longwood.

The Monarchs open the Virginia 529 CAA Championships on Saturday at 12 noon against the UNC Wilmington/Towson winner.
