Buss And McAloose Homer In ODU's Loss To Georgia State

NORFOLK, VA--Jonathan Kolowich's three-run homer in the ninth inning broke a 10-10 tieas the Panthers of Georgia State (14-10/2-1) defeated Old Dominion (12-15/1-2), 16-10 in a CAA contest Sunday at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex. Both teams pounded out 17 hits on the day.

ODU led, 10-5 after seven innings, but the defending CAA champions rallied for five runs in the eighth highlighted by Mark Micowski's three-run double, then scored six in the ninth led by Kolowich's three-run homer.

Sophomore second baseman Josh Wright led ODU with four hits, while senior shortstop Chris Buss knocked in four runs for the Monarchs on three hits. Senior third baseman Jake McAloose added three hits and scored three runs for ODU. Edgar Hernandez also had two hits and an RBI for the Monarchs.

Buss knocked in two runs in the first inning and then hit a two-run homer in the third inning. McAloose hit a solo shot in the sixth inning, his fourth of the season.

Logan Bradley and Rob Lind each had three hits for Georgia State. Micowski and Kolowich both knocked in three runs. Micowski also scored three times.

Justin Malone picked up the win in relief. He fanned four in 3.1 innings of work for the Panthers. ODU returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to Longwood for a 6 p.m. game, then to N.C. State on Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. game. ODU returnshome next weekend when they host the Dukes of James Madison.
