ODU Boasts Highest GPA Among All Division I Field Hockey Programs

NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion field hockey program was honored with the 2009 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Collegiate National Academic Team Award on Thursday. The Lady Monarchs topped the list of 63 Division I field hockey teams that achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2009-10 academic year.

Old Dominion boasted the highest GPA among all Division I field hockey programs, compiling a team average of 3.52. LaSalle placed second with a GPA of 3.51. American, Robert Morris and Monmouth rounded out the top-five.

During the fall of 2009, the Lady Monarchs had 13 of its members named to the Dean's List. Freshman Julie Hodge and seniors Kelly Driscoll and Hanna Warren all had GPA's over 3.55 and were recognized on All-CAA squads for their performances on the field.

Driscoll and Warren were named second team All-CAA in 2009, while Hodge was selected to the All-Rookie Team.

Since 1989, the Old Dominion field hockey team has earned a grade point average of 3.0 or better every year.
