NORFOLK, Va. -- The ODU Lady Monarchs (19-13) will travel to face the Providence College Friars (17-14) for second round action of the WNIT at Alumni Hall in Rhode Island on Monday, March 22 at 7:00 p.m.

The Lady Monarchs advanced to the second round with a 63-55 opening round victory over the Patriot League Regular Season Champs, American University. Old Dominion earned the CAA's automatic bid into the WNIT after finishing as the regular season champion with a 14-4 record in league play. ODU leaned on sophomore Tia Lewis (16 pts, 9 reb) and junior Jasmine Parker (14 pts, 5 reb, 3 ast) in the first round as they led from wire-to-wire against the Eagles. As a team, the Lady Monarchs pounded the Eagles down low, scoring 44 of their 63 points in the paint.

In tonight's game, Providence outlasted Boston University for a 64-58 win on the road, after the two teams went into the break deadlocked at 31. Senior Chelsea Marandola poured in a game-high 23 points, adding four clutch free-throws down the stretch, to get the Friars past the Terriers in their first round matchup. Marandola was selected to the All-BIG EAST First Team, averaging 17.9 points per game in the regular season. The Friars were eliminated from the BIG EAST Championship by Syracuse in the second round.
