NORFOLK, Va. -- Junior Nadine Fahoum (Haifa, Israel) was honored as the CAA Women's Tennis Player of the Week for her performance during the week ending March 14, and was also honored with Juliana Pires (Porto Alegre, Brazil) as the CAA Doubles Team of the Week for the week ending March 7.
Fahoum, ranked 19th in the country by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, has piled up a 31-4 record this season, including seven wins over nationally ranked opponents. She earned CAA Player of the Week honors after dropping Josefin Hjertquist of 19th ranked VCU, 7-5, 6-2. The win gave her 31 overall and was the 16th win in her last 17 matches, all at No. 1 singles.
Fahoum paired with Pires, a rookie, for the first time all season in the week ending on March 7, and the two earned a big conference win over UNC Wilmington's Christina Riley and Kayla Schwenk, 8-3. The ODU tandem also added a win over UMBC's top duo, 8-2, to improve to 2-0 at No. 1 doubles.
The Lady Monarchs return to action this weekend, as they host Temple University on Saturday, March 20 at 11:00 a.m. and then travel to Richmond on Sunday, March 21 at 1:00 p.m.
