RICHMOND, Va. (December 9, 2009) -The Colonial Athletic Association has announced its men's tennis Silver Anniversary team, which includes 16 former CAA Players of the Year and eight All-Americans.

As part of its 25th Anniversary celebration in 2009-10, the CAA is recognizing Silver Anniversary teams in 21 championship sports. The teams are selected by a panel of current and former coaches in the conference.

Members of the CAA Silver Anniversary team for men's tennis are:

Daniel Andersson (VCU), Alexandre Cancado (Old Dominion), Henrique Cancado (Old Dominion), Tom Clarke (Richmond), Alex Cojanu (William and Mary), Zoltan Csanadi (Old Dominion), Will Harvie (William and Mary), Jeff Kader (William and Mary), Vosko Kohlmayer (William and Mary), Arnaud Le Cloerec (VCU), Scott Lindsey (William and Mary), Scott Mackesy (William and Mary), Florian Marquardt (VCU), Frank Moser (VCU), Pedro Nieto (VCU), Colin O'Brien (William and Mary), Miguel Rosa (Old Dominion), Jose Sanchez (VCU), Aleksandr Seleznev (Old Dominion), Trevor Spracklin (William and Mary), Harel Srugo (Old Dominion), Martin Stiegwardt (Georgia State), Olivier Tauma (VCU), Izak van der Merwe (Old Dominion) and Richard Wernerhjelm (VCU).

Men's tennis has been a championship sport in the CAA since the league's inception in 1985. VCU has captured a league-high 11 conference championships, including a stretch of nine in a row from 1996-2004. William and Mary (1987, 1990, 2005) and Richmond (1992, 1993, 1995) have each claimed three CAA titles, while James Madison (1989, 1991) and Navy (1985, 1986) have won two. Also taking home CAA championships have been Georgia State (2007), UNC Wilmington (2009) and Old Dominion (1994).

The conference has also established an outstanding reputation nationally, with several teams and numerous individuals ranked among the best in Division I each year. In 2000, VCU reached the finals of the NCAA Men's Tennis Championship. In 2007, the conference placed a league-record four teams in the NCAA Championship when Georgia State, Old Dominion, VCU and William and Mary all earned bids.

Alexandre Cancado - Old Dominion - 1996-2000 - Belo Horizonte, Brazil
Earned All-CAA honors in 1998, 1999 and 2000
Ranked among the top 100 singles players in the nation in 1998 and 1999
Chosen to the ITA Academic All-America team in 1999 and 2000

Ranked 13th in the nation in doubles and 76th in singles in 2007
Compiled a career record of 93-39 in singles and 71-34 in doubles
Two-time All-CAA selection who was an ITA Regional finalist in singles

Selected as the CAA Player of the Year in 1992
Captured the CAA championship at #1 singles in 1992, 1993 and 1995

Alex Cojanu - William and Mary - 2004-08 - Hallandale, Fla.
Competed in the NCAA Doubles (2007, 2008) and Singles Championships (2008)
Seven-time All-CAA honoree and CAA Rookie of the Year in 2005
Ranks second in career doubles victories at W&M with a 97-53 mark

Earned All-America honors in 2004 after making the NCAA Doubles Championship semifinals
ODU's career leader in singles victories with a 103-46 record

Will Harvie - William and Mary - 1984-88 - Belle Haven, Va.
Honored as CAA Player of the Year in 1986 and 1987
Captured the top singles and doubles flights at the 1986 and 1987 CAA Championships
Won 65 singles and 59 doubles matches in his W&M career

Jeff Kader - William and Mary - 2001-05 - Geneva, Ohio
Participated in the NCAA Singles Championship in 2004 and 2005
Four-time All-CAA selection in singles and MVP of the 2005 CAA Tournament
Won 85 singles and 84 doubles matches during his Tribe career
