Day One Pod Meet Recap & Results
NORFOLK, Va. -- Both the Old Dominion men's and women's swimming and diving teams came away with a victory at the annual Colonial Athletic Association pod meet on Saturday.
The Monarchs improved their overall mark to 2-1 as they defeated William & Mary by a score of 194-156.
The Lady Monarchs, meanwhile, earned a 190-163 victory over Northeastern, but fell 207-146 to James Madison and 205-146 to William & Mary. The ODU women's swimming and diving squad now stands at 2-3 overall.
On the final day, the ODU men earned four victories en-route to defeating the Tribe.
The Ramkvist brothers finished one-two in the 200 back. Mikael (Bjarred, Sweden) took the top spot by claiming a time of 1:53.06, edging out his brother Kristian (Bjarred, Sweden) who placed second with a time of 1:55.69.
The ODU men also finshed one-two in the 100 free. Steven Loccisano (Fredericksburg, Va.) placed first by hitting the wall in a time of 47.04, beating out second place finisher Chad Gangwer (Va. Beach, Va.) by .53 seconds.
Also going one-two in the 200 breast were teammates Arni Arnason (Msfellsbaer, Iceland) and Phil Brooks (Smithfield, Va.). Arnason collected a first place time of 2:03.98, nearly seven seconds faster than his teammate. Brooks finished in second registering a final time of 2:11.28.
Kevin Latimer (Newport News, Va.) gave the Monarchs another win on the day with his 200 fly finish. Placing first, Latimer swam to a time of 1:54.87.
Erla Haraldsdottir took home a first place time in the 200 breast. The lone Lady Monarch to capture a victory on Sunday afternoon, she logged a time of 2:21.03.
The Old Dominion men's and women's swimming and diving squads will return to the water at the Gamecock Invitational being held at the University of South Carolina November 19-21.
