NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion field hockey team returned to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Poll after a two week absence. The Lady Monarchs are ranked No. 20 in the poll, which was released on Tuesday.
ODU received 66 total points after going 1-1 during the final week of the regular season. Other CAA schools joining ODU in the rankings are Drexel (10), James Madison (11) and Delaware (16). Hofstra and Northeastern also received votes in the poll, but were not ranked.
The Lady Monarchs ended the regular season with a 9-11 overall mark and a 5-3 CAA record. ODU won its regular-season finale 5-3 over William and Mary after falling 2-0 to second-ranked North Carolina this past weekend. Senior Kathleen Shea scored a pair of goals against the Tribe to give her eight for the season, one shy of the team leader. Freshman midfielder Julie Hodge recorded her first-career tally on a penalty stroke in the fifth minute of the first half in the season-finale.
Old Dominion finished the regular season in a tie for fourth place in the CAA with Hofstra after winning its last three conference games, but missed the postseason because of a head-to-head loss against the Pride.
Old Dominion also remained in the womensfieldhockey.com poll for the second consecutive week, checking in at No. 19.
