Check out Lady Monarch junior Nadine Fahoum's latest blog as she continues play at the 2009 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships. Teammate Joanna Dobrowolska and assistant coach Nataly Cahana-Fleishman join Fahoum on the road in Pacific Palisades, California, as the Lady Monarchs play at the beautiful Riviera Country Club. Today's blog is set after a long first day of play, where Nadine posted two wins in singles play.
Hi everyone,
Today was a very busy day, right from the start. Our first doubles match was at 9 a.m. We played very well, but we missed some opportunites to get the lead in the match and we lost 8-6. (Editor's note: The ODU pair, Fahoum and Dobrowolska, battled and lost a tight match against the sixth seed and 18th ranked doubles team in the country, Featherston and Tsang from North Carolina.)
My singles match was just 30 minutes after we finished with doubles. I played well against the girl from Florida International University, 76th ranked Mariana Muci. Unluckily she had to default when I was leading 6-2, 3-1.
My second match against the Baylor girl took 3 hours. She (Csilla Borsanyi) is ranked in the top 50, I think (Editor's note: ranks 48th in the country) and I won 6-4, 6-7, 6-4. It was a tough match, but it was a great feeling to win the last point of the match :)
Now I need to go and get ready for tomorrow, so good night everyone :)
