NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion field hockey team, which has won four of its last five games, is ranked No. 16 in the latest National Field Hockey Coaches Association Poll, released Tuesday. The Lady Monarchs are ranked even higher, No. 13, in this week's womensfieldhockey.com poll.

ODU received 305 total points in the NFHCA poll and are one of four Colonial Athletic Association teams ranked.

The Lady Monarchs (6-6, 2-1) went 1-1 last week in a pair of CAA road contests. ODU fell to newly ranked Delaware on October 2 before rebounding with a 2-1 overtime victory over Towson on October 4. Senior Kathleen Shea (Elizaville, N.Y.) scored just 23 seconds into overtime to clinch ODU's victory. The Lady Monarchs also got significant contributions from sophomore Kathryn Kirk (Lititz, Pa.), who scored a goal and assisted on Shea's game-winner.

Other CAA schools joining ODU in the rankings are James Madison (11), Drexel (12) and Delaware (17). Northeastern, Hofstra, VCU and Towson also received votes in the poll. The next poll will be released on Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Old Dominion will continue league play this weekend at home, taking on Drexel and Hofstra.
