Check out junior Lady Monarch Nadine Fahoum's blog as she travels to the 2009 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships with teammate Joanna Dobrowolska (Asia) and coach Nataly Cahana-Fleishman. The Old Dominion crew is headed to the beautiful Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California. Nadine's first blog is set in transit. Play begins at the All-American Championships on Tuesday, October 6.
Hello everyone!
Thanks for following ODU women's tennis and our trip to California. Here is my first day traveling to the All-American tournament:
I woke up at 3:40 a.m. and was picked up at 4:20 a.m. After getting to the Norfolk airport, we flew to Detroit, but when we got there, we had to run all the way to another gate in just 10 minutes. When we arrived at the gate we realized that there was a train from gate-to-gate that we should have taken; but it's ok because I love running every morning with my school bag and laptop ;-)
The flight to LA was good, but once we arrived we had to stand in the rental car line, while all the other companies were completely empty -- just our luck!
Finally, after a long day of traveling, we got to the family's house and relaxed a bit. We went to grab a bite to eat -- actually a big bite ;-) We then went to practice at the Riviera Country Club. Practice went well for both, Asia and I.
Lastly, we had a great dinner with our very nice host family. Now I'm about to go sleep and get ready for a new day tomorrow.
